EcoProcura 2001 Brussels - European Purchasing Guidelines - Greening the Internal Market

On the 26 November 2001, ICLEI and Hanse-Office, the office of the states of Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein in Brussels, organised a one-day European roundtable to bring key stakeholders together to discuss whether European guidelines for GPP would be effective in greening EU public procurement. Participants presented existing national green purchasing guidelines in Europe, which have already been set up in Austria, Sweden and Denmark.

The concept of whether guidelines can be transferred to the European level was discussed, along with the possible benefits and best approaches of the Common Guidelines, from the perspective of local authorities, national and European regulators, economists and scientific experts working in the field.
