EcoProcura 2012 - Delivering sustainable procurement and innovation

The EcoProcura 2012 Conference examined the challenges in the implementation of sustainable public procurement (SPP) within the framework of European, national and local legislation and policies. The conference analysed SPP’s role in supporting the global, national, and local shift toward a resource-efficient, low-carbon and more responsible society, examining innovative solutions for challenging economic times. The outcomes of Rio+20, as well as the impact of legislation, policies and guidance on public procurement at the local level, were also discussed. High-level speakers such as Klaus Wiedner from the European Commission and Catarina Segersten-Larsson from the Committee of the Regions took part in the sessions and discussions, as well as debates on the role of public procurement in driving innovation, the use of social criteria throughout the supply chain and more.
